Authorities stated they were contacted by a man who found a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored fluid

Roughly fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, building surfaces and postal boxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued fluid.

The fluid had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they stated.

Police then found many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police report preliminary tests suggest the substance was likely human blood.

"Currently there is no clue as to where it came from; investigators are presently not informed of any injuries in connection with the event," they commented.

City officials said they were working "to resolve the mystery" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A high-ranking political figure stated the vandalism left him stunned and had to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the right-wing attack five years ago," he stated on social media, mentioning the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in 2020.
